Being Human

Courageous
27.11.17Did you know that the word courage comes from Latin for “the heart”? Cour, similar to the French coeur, means “the heart”. Agere means “to act”.
From these Latin roots, one can take courage to mean "allowing love to move one to action".
This way of looking at courage seems simultaneously poetic and accessible. It demystifies the intimidating impression that courage is fearlessness and heroism - relegated to those who rescued children, overcame crippling conditions or performed selfless deeds.
Explained this way, it’s easier to know how to be courageous; a courageous act is one in which you are moved by love.
No matter how big and daunting, or small and subtle - act with love, and it’s an act of courage.
