I might have outdone myself on travelling light...My backpack weighs in at 5.4kg, and my handbag is about 1kg. It helps that I'm travelling to to hot and humid Sri Lanka.

Here are 4 things I consider when deciding the clothes I pack:

  1. How much does it weigh?
  2. How versatile and easy is it to wear?
  3. How easy is it to clean?
  4. Would I mind if it gets lost or ruined?

Other tips for packing clothes:

  • Belts will save almost any outfit! I used to pack thin leather belts, until I discovered how light and versatile fabric belts/ties are (take the fabric ties from existing tunics/tops, or cut some pretty rope).
  • A light pashmina or scarf is the perfect travel companion: keeps you warm on planes and evenings, for covering up when visiting holy sites, or tied up as a sling handbag for your bathers and towel.
See you in spring Melbourne!
